Abi & Gavin were married in Oxford last September with a truly stylish and intimate Wedding day. I hope you love looking through some of their gallery for some Small City Wedding Inspiration.
Abi wore an absolutely stunning Blush Wedding Dress from Willowby by Watters - accessorised perfectly with a Sarah Harper Floral Crown (who also did all the flowers for the wedding), sparkly pink heels and a delicious pink cloud of a shrug.
The wonderful Holly Preston from Oxford Wedding Hair and Makeup worked her magic to create a soft, romantic and pretty Bridal look for Abi. I've admired Holly's work from a far for a long time so it's always lovely to put a face to a name in the Wedding world. I highly recommend Holly - she was wonderful to work with and did such a beautiful job.
Abi, her Mum and sister got ready in a central Oxford Air BnB before walking across the cobbles into Oxford to the ceremony.
Gavin was waiting to meet Abi where they had a 'first look' - this is an American thing to do and it is becoming increasingly popular in the UK too. The Bride and Groom see each other before the ceremony - to share a moment, calm any nerves and of course the Groom gets to see the dress! They also chose to walk down the aisle together which was incredibly sweet!
After a beautiful ceremony in St Edmunds Hall (complete with stunning Harp accompaniment!) the guests walked across to the gardens to enjoy a cocktail reception. After enjoying some time with their guests I stole Abi and Gavin for some couple portraits. I was truly spoilt for choice on locations. Every inch of these historic buildings and gardens are stunning.
Once we had captured everything we wanted in that location we rallied the troops and headed out to the street to throw the confetti and start the walk down to the Bodleian Libraries.
Gavin was a true gentleman and helped his new wife by giving her a piggy back - truly the best way to arrive at your Wedding reception!
The couple were unsure if they wanted any posed group shots as they worried it may take away from the natural flow of the day - so when a perfect moment jumped out as us to grab a whole wedding photo under the bridge we had to grab it. I love to keep things flexible and relaxed for you and make sure to listen to you so your day can truly go as you envision it.
As we arrived at the Bodleian there was time for a few more couple portraits outside using the stunning architecture before the team showed the Bride & Groom the room. Everything was set up perfectly by the incredible team - I really can't recommend this stunning venue enough. The team worked so hard to make sure every single detail was en pointe for the couple. The attention to detail and care shown was second to none.
The couple chose not to have any dancing so I stayed to capture the speeches and the cutting of the cheese tower and then left them to enjoy the rest of their evening. It was a truly beautiful day from start to finish.
Abi was kind enough to leave me a review - "I cannot recommend Poppy's wedding photography enough. I think her photos speak for themselves, but she managed to capture our day absolutely perfectly. Poppy was brilliant throughout the whole process. She captured all of the shots we had planned, but was also super flexible on the day and even captured some of the ones I didn't know I wanted! On the day itself, Poppy was more than just a photographer. She turned up where we were getting ready and instantly made us all feel at ease. She has a way of taking charge without imposing, and was particularly good at shepherding guests in a way that didn't seem pushy. This made it super easy to assemble some group shots (e.g. confetti etc.) without any fuss. She also helped with bits and bobs like getting shoes on, picking leaves out of my dress etc. After the wedding, we very quickly received a little preview which got us excited to see the whole gallery. A few weeks after, we received a link to an online gallery with all our wonderful photos. I couldn't wait to share them with everyone! I couldn't recommend Poppy enough! She really helped make the day run smoothly, and has given us the most wonderful record of such a special time :) P.S. can't wait to have babies so I can have some of her gorgeous family portraits!"
